Braemar Country Club - Tarzana, CA

Contacted by KSL and Club Corp to participate in a design competition for a redevelopment master plan of their existing golf and tennis club property to accommodate a more family-oriented, full service country club, The Galloway Group worked with TRA/Angle Design and answered with a dramatic design. The site plan concept proposed a 'hacienda style' club facility totaling over 73,000 sq. ft. with an additional 14,700 sq. ft. of optional golf cart storage under the main club building and used smaller scaled buildings oriented in a campus setting around an Olympic sized pool to break down the scale of the overall club. The buildings were terraced into the hillside site reducing the visual massing and the additional parking was accommodated within a semi-subterranean parking structure that fit within the existing parking lot footprint. Spanish Colonial architectural style reinforced the hacienda vision and an iconic roof form covered a new gymnasium building tucked into the terrain created a thematic first impression and sense of arrival leading up to the porte cochere of the new Braemar Country Club.
